Shortly before the start of the summer season, a crew from the most popular agricultural TV program in Bulgaria – “Brazdi” on the Bulgarian National Television – visited the gardens of our permaculture design instructor Daniel Dimov in the village of Golyama Zhelyazna.
In front of the cameras, Danny shared what led him to organic farming, the unexpected connection between skateboarding and gardening, and answered many other questions.
The expert on permaculture design also revealed the philosophy he follows – agricultural practices that recreate, as closely as possible, the natural processes found in the wild.
“In organic farming, and in nature as a whole, there are no chemicals. Period. So there are no chemicals here either. That's all. Clean food for healthy people.”
While revealing his personal motivation and the ambitious goals he is pursuing together with the Sharena Fabrika team, Daniel takes the BNT team on a tour of the village of Golyama Zhelyazna, the Sopot Dam and, of course, the 12 XNUMX m² of gardens he takes care of.
“We will bring people from all over the world to Golyama Zhelyazna. And everything that my permaculture students and I produce in the garden – our open-air classroom – will go directly to use in the culinary school and its restaurant.”
Memories of his skateboarding years in the USA and his first exposure to permaculture in Hawaii are intertwined with unforgettable moments from Danny's childhood in a Bulgarian village.
“My earliest memories were in the countryside, in August, I was 6-7 years old. I would go into the garden and pick a tomato. I wouldn't even make it up to the kitchen. I would eat it right there between the rows, warm from the sun. And to this day, most of the food I pick from the garden never makes it to the kitchen. I eat it right on the spot. That's when it tastes best."

On September 20, in the gardens of Sharena Fabrika in the village of Golyama Zhelyazna, begins a two-week Certification course in permaculture designled by Daniel Dimov and the London-based world-renowned expert Rakesh Rootsman Rak.
Participants who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate from the Permaculture Association (UK). The Early Bird discount is available until 31.07.2026 July XNUMX.
